2. Agreement: All contestants, by entering the contest, agree to and accept these contest rules and agree to, accept and digitally sign the contest's terms and conditions.

3. Formatting: All contest entries must be formatted according to the contest's formatting requirements. Contestants can contact Martin Sustainable through our contact form with questions about formatting and/or requests for exceptions to format requirements.

4. Original Works: All entries must be original works written in the English language by the entrants and must not violate any right of any third party or be libelous in any way, and must be without prior or current financial or other obligation of any kind to third parties.

5. Judging: The entries will be judged on originality, creativity and writing skill of the submission. The decision of the judges as to the winner of the contest will be final. Martin Sustainable reserves the right not to select any winner if, in the sole opinion of Martin Sustainable, none of the entries submitted are of publishable quality.

6. Deadline: All entries must be submitted by the announced entry deadline date to be considered for the contest. Entry deadline dates are announced on the Martin Books contest page.

7. Grand Prize: If a grand prize winner is selected, Martin Sustainable will offer to enter into its standard form author's agreement with the entrant for publication, at Martin Sustainable's expense, of the winning manuscript as an eBook. If Martin Books determines there is sufficient potential for print sales, Martin Sustainable may, at its sole discretion, offer to the winner to enter into its standard form author's agreement for publication, at Martin Sustainable's expense, of the winning manuscript in printed form. After execution of the standard form author's agreement(s) by both parties, the winner will be announced on the website as an upcoming published author by Martin Sustainable Books. The entrant may request reasonable changes in the offered terms, but Martin Sustainable Books shall not be obligated to agree to any such changes. Martin Sustainable Books may, but will not be required to, consider for publication manuscripts submitted by other entrants.

8. Short Story Prize: If a sufficient number of top short story prize winners are selected to constitute a viable collection, Martin Sustainable will offer to enter into its standard form author's agreement with the entrant for publication of the winning short stories, at Martin Sustainable's expense, as an eBook collection. If there are not enough short story winners to constitute a collection but there is a winner(s) of the short story competition, Martin Sustainable, will offer to enter into a standard form author's agreement with the winning entrant(s) for publication of the winning short story(ies) as an eBook. If Martin Books determines there is sufficient potential for print sales, Martin Sustainable may, at its sole discretion, offer to the winner(s) to enter into its standard form author's agreement for publication of the winning collection, at Martin Sustainable's expense, in printed form. After execution of the standard form author's agreement(s) by both parties, the winners will be announced on the website as an upcoming author within a collection of short stories to be published by Martin Sustainable Books. The entrant may request reasonable changes in the offered terms, but Martin Sustainable Books shall not be obligated to agree to any such changes. Martin Sustainable Books may, but will not be required to, consider for publication short stories submitted by other entrants.
